Our client is a very successful SME business with an exciting opportunity for an experienced Sales Manager to join their team. They are involved in the events and hospitality sector and have an established UK customer base with excellent existing and ongoing client customer relationships. The company focus is on maintaining and growing spend from their loyal existing customer base as well as adding additional high value new customers.

Job Role

To oversee the group Sales function and implementation of the Sales Strategy, delivering sustainable and profitable sales growth to the business. The role will involve working directly with the Board of Directors, Heads of Department and Key Customers as well as overall responsibility for a sales team of 8 people and budgetary responsibility of £8m sales.

MainResponsibilities

  • Draft and agree the Company Sales Strategy with the Managing Director on an annual basis, to ensure the sales strategy matches the overall business objectives
  • Managing the Sales team across two offices (role based in Bristol office), including recruitment, performance management, training and ensuring best practice sales techniques are used
  • Engage with key customers to build long lasting relationships, enabling contracts to be retained, and to support the Sales team achieve their sales objectives
  • Engage with prospective customers to maximise new business opportunities and oversee the tender process for new business as well as re-tenders with existing customers
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to deliver Business Improvement Projects such as sales process improvements, supplier tenders or new sector research
  • Contributing to the development and delivery of the Company Marketing Strategy, working closely with the Marketing Consultant to deliver this
  • Provide appropriate the Board of Directors and wider business, presenting topics such as Sales KPIs, Competitor activity and delivery against Company objectives and sales plan
  • Ensure the CRM system is used effectively and uniformly across the business

Qualifications, Skills and Experience

  • Significant prior experience of working in a sales environment at a senior level in an SME
  • Experience of influencing and delivering the sales strategy of a similar size business at a national level
  • Can demonstrate the ability to successfully manage a sales team based in the field or across multiple sites
  • Ability to research, contact and acquire new clients which are relevant and profitable to the business
  • Proven track record of developing strong relationships with key clients, offering excellent customer service, whilst supplying the efficient delivery of our services
  • Must possess the confidence to communicate and interact with individuals from all levels of the organisation and with a varying client base
  • Can work in a highly pressurised and fast paced, seasonal environment
  • Must have experience of using and maximising CRM platforms
  • Project Management qualifications desirable but not essential
  • Experience in the event and/or catering industry desirable but not essential
  • Higher Education to Degree Level or similar experience
  • Must have a high level of MS Office capability
