Head of Operations for Creative Production Studio

Maternity Cover 10 months FTC

Salary £35K – £45K FTE + benefits including health insurance

This is an exciting role for an interim Head of Operations to join an award-winning production studio creating content for TV, film, commercials and more. They have a very friendly and talented team.

You will be supporting the MD and FD, helping with the day to day running of the studio at a senior level and focussing on the operational side of the business.

Main responsibilities:

  • Ensuring all operations are carried out in the most efficient and cost-effective way
  • Office management including health and safety and being the lead contact for the office landlord
  • Ensuring the smooth running of the office on a day-to-day basis, delegating work where necessary
  • Line Manager to Studio Manager
  • Being first port of call for HR issues to filter through to the relevant manager
  • Manage freelancer bookings and recruitment, liaising with Exec Producers on each job from the outset to plan ahead and get the best people at the best rates, and locked in at the right time
  • Manage freelance contracts
  • Liaise with IT staff and providers, ensuring the contract renewals are managed appropriately and supplier reviewed annually
  • Supporting the Finance Director with processing supplier invoices, completing a weekly bank reconciliation, ensuring finance approval is sought in advance of committing the company to any expenditure where necessary
  • Continually review and improve processes across the business, identifying areas that require improvement and work with key stakeholders to implement changes
  • Organise Director’s travel
  • Work with the FD to implement a new finance and HR system

Skills & Experience

  • Ideally you will have worked in a production environment before
  • You will have worked in an operational or studio manager role
  • Knowledge of HR processes and day to day financial management is key
  • You will be organised, good at building relationships, making decisions, and making things happen
  • Reliability and discretion essential as you will often learn of confidential matters
