FINANCE MANAGER

Salary: £45K – £50K doe

Home based role within the South West UK – Exeter to Bristol to Cardiff – for team dynamics

This is a superb opportunity for an experienced Finance Manager to join a growing, B corporation certified business and take on the leadership of the finance team.  This is a critical role within the business, which has a current turnover of around £3.5 million, and the successful candidate will become part of the senior management team reporting to the Managing Director.

You will be responsible for ensuring that the Accounting records are maintained in accordance with accounting guidelines, the Company law and tax laws. Ensuring that all internal reports are produced and published on agreed time scales. Supervising and guiding the finance team to perform their duties, ensuring adequate staff cover at all times.

Key Responsibilities and Activities

Financial accounts

  • Ensuring financial accounting procedures are set up and appropriate to the business
  • Complying with Accounting, Inland Revenue and Customs & Excise regulations
  • Preparation of statutory accounts
  • Preparation of Corporation tax computations (with a review by Tax advisors)
  • Ensuring VAT returns are completed on time

Financial Controls

  • Providing a framework for internal financial control of the business allowing for future growth
  • Maintaining stock reconciliations
  • Ensuring compliance of controls
  • Maintaining control of activities within the finance department e.g. aged creditor reviews
  • Monitoring funds utilisation and weekly cash flow report

Financial Planning and Analysis

  • Provision of monthly management information
  • Reviewing and challenging performance with line managers
  • Supporting line managers through the provision of ad-hoc financial information
  • Setting operational parameters for the business e.g. budgets/forecasts
  • Ensuring agreed KPI reports are produced and distributed in a timely manner

Team Management

  • Managing, motivating, training, supporting and developing staff
  • Identify recruitment needs and recruit to the required level
  • Conduct regular team briefs and 1:1’s with the team

Skills and Technical Requirements

  • Professionally part/qualified accountant, ACCA or CIMA
  • Competent in using XERO and Futril
  • Excellent academic record demonstrating numeric skills.
  • Strong technical skills with attention to detail

The successful candidate will be confident and highly self motivated.  An excellent communicator who is commercially minded with a strong teamwork ethic.  You will have the ability to work well with senior management and be able to support, develop and manage staff.
