Business & Operations Manager

Central Bristol

Salary £35K – £40K + benefits

Hybrid working 3 days in office and 2 days remote

This is a superb opportunity to join a friendly, close-knit team in a fast-growing creative agency involved in a cutting edge, innovative specialist sector.

This is a key role to facilitate the smooth and effective running of the business operations and administrative needs. Working closely with the management team, the Business & Operations Manager will ensure the company is working in an optimal fashion, is compliant with all relevant laws and regulations and that new processes and initiatives are effectively implemented.

The successful candidate will work closely with staff at all levels within the business from entry level to senior management and will need to demonstrate a good knowledge of the requirements of running a small business, including financial, legal and HR requirements. The purpose of the role is to free up senior leadership’s time to focus on strategic planning.

Main responsibilities:

  • Operations including implementation of new initiatives and projects in support of the company’s goals and objectives
  • Analyse data to provide reports and business insights to senior management
  • Ensure tools, systems and software are up to date with appropriate licenses
  • Create and send client invoices and follow up to ensure prompt payment
  • Process monthly payroll and accounts payable
  • Liaise with accounting partners to ensure VAT returns and annual returns submitted
  • Track department budgets and provide monthly financial reports
  • Set up and route client contracts and statements of work for signature
  • Liaise with legal partners
  • Maintain employee files
  • Ensure staff comply with company policy
  • Assist with recruitment including job adverts, shortlisting and interviewing
  • Act as key client point of contact for commercial, legal or business matters
  • Assist with company’s business development process by qualifying enquiries, collecting and reporting on sales data
  • Manage and develop good relations with IT subcontractors
  • Facilities management

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in an operations role
  • Knowledge of budget management and profit/loss sheets
  • Working knowledge of commercial contracts and terminology
  • Project management experience
  • A good understanding of data with the ability to set, monitor and report against KPI’s
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to present and summarise information concisely
