The UK’s Unemployment Figures fall in 2012 statistics

Posted on: May 18th, 2012

The figures recently released by the Office of National Statistics show that the total number of people out of work fell by 45,000 to 2.6 million – the lowest figure since last summer.

The fall in the figures has been attributed to more people taking on part time work, with almost 8 million people now choosing to work part time.

Employment minister Chris Grayling described the fall as a “welcome step in the right direction” with the UK average of 8.2% of the population out of work well below the European average of 10.2%
