The candidate strikes back!

It struck a major chord with me when I read the latest candidate research from REC (Recruitment and Employment Confederation) which is our governing body.   Now that we are emerging from the deepest recession in living memory employers are looking to hire the best talent, but skills shortages are already beginning to bite across the economy and it’s getting harder for recruiters to find the people they need.  This report highlights the need for good practice when it comes to the recruitment process as candidates have more choice and higher expectations.   From our own recent experience here at Lucy Bristow we have for example seen some employers lose their chosen applicant by dragging their feet over interviews and offers, and candidates being counter-offered by their current employer who are fearful of losing a good member of their team.  The candidates are more discerning about potential employers and will find out from their own networks about their reputation and their recruitment process.  They will now be judging employers as much as they are being judged.  For any employer looking to find the right talent for their business this report is well worth a read.  Click here
